EN ISO 20349 is the European standard for safety footwear used in foundries, welding operations and environments exposed to molten metal, radiant heat and hot surfaces.

Unlike standard safety footwear, EN ISO 20349 requires additional testing for molten metal resistance, burning behaviour, heat insulation and emergency footwear removal.

EN ISO 20349 Certification FAQ

What Is EN ISO 20349 and Why Is It Important?

EN ISO 20349** is the international standard for protective footwear used in high-temperature environments such as foundries, smelters, steel mills and other hot-work industries.

It builds upon the requirements of **EN ISO 20345** by adding specialized protection against thermal hazards, including molten metal splash, contact heat, flame exposure and extreme working conditions.

The standard is divided into two parts: **Part 1** for foundry risks and **Part 2** for welding and allied processes, helping employers choose footwear designed for specific thermal hazards.
