ASTM F2413 Certification FAQ
What Is ASTM F2413 and Why Is It Important?
ASTM F2413 is the primary U.S. performance standard for protective safety footwear.
ASTM F2413-24 establishes minimum requirements for impact and compression resistance and includes additional protection categories such as Electrical Hazard (EH), Puncture Resistance (PR), Metatarsal Protection (Mt) and Static Dissipative (SD) properties. Slip resistance is addressed separately through ASTM F3445 using the ASTM F2913 whole-shoe test method.
Rather than using classifications such as S3 or S7, ASTM identifies the specific hazards a boot has been tested to protect against, helping employers and buyers select footwear based on actual workplace risks.
