Under the ANSI/ISEA Z89.1 system:
● Class C: provides no electrical insulation
● Class G: provides general electrical protection
● Class E: provides higher electrical protection and is laboratory proof-tested at 20,000 volts
The Class E test voltage does not mean that workers can safely contact live conductors. De-energisation, safe distances, insulated tools, voltage-rated gloves and other electrical PPE remain essential.
